NIR-sensor

Site specific fertilization and knowing what you spread on your fields became an important issue in modern day farming due to chances in legislation amongst others. In the future, even more attention will be given to precision farming and site-specific fertilization. That is why KAWECO is here to provide you with the right techniques to enable you to work in a sustainable way. The weighing and sampling system currently used a lot on transport tankers gives you insights in what you spread, but only after the spreading has already happened. Measures with the usage of a NIR-sensor can be the right solution to provide you with real-time data. This helps you in farming in a sustainable way and realizing the optimal usage of fertilizers. By means of the NIR-sensor, the KAWECO slurry tankers are able to measure the additives of the filled volume of slurry. With this data, the KAWECO tanker is able to spread according to the number of additives in the slurry, instead of the cubic meters of slurry. This provides you with a far more accurate way of spreading. The KAWECO NIR is DLG approved for 4 of the 5 additives measurable.

What does the NIR-SENSOR measure?

When filling the tanker, de amounts of the following additives are measured:

What does the NIR-SENSOR offer you?

According to the measured value’s, the machine is able to calculate how much of all the additives is present in the slurry. You are then able to choose if you want to applicate according to the amount of slurry or according to the amount of a certain additive per acre. This enables you to work for more precise than with the current ways of working. Differences in Slurry compositions are large, and one tanker full of slurry shouldn’t be treated the same as the other. Working with task-cards for site specific injection is also amongst the options. The data from the NIR-SENSOR is transported to the Müller computer on the tractor, which enables you to extract the data which tells you what you spread where.

GPS options

By means of the Müller computer it is also possible to work with section-control and headland management, for optimal usage of the slurry without creating overlap. This is often done in combination with an on-board hydraulic system to be able to control the pumping capacity precisely and fast. When working with section control, the applicator is being divided into different sections. Trough GPS the sections can be closed or opened independent from each other. Applicating parts of the field two times becomes unnecessary and you are able to deliver an even nicer job in the field with optimal usage of the slurry. The headland management function enables you to lift the applicator or stop spreading at the exact same moment every time you reach the headland, to create a neat job and leave the field looking perfect.

Datamanagement

The NIR sensor can optionally be linked to a GeoSWITCH, so that the information from the NIR sensor can be viewed in real time on the task cards platform. This gives you an as applied card per value on which the quantity applicated is shown. The KAWECO NIR sensor measures the components of the slurry during filling, in this way an average value is determined. Based on this value, volume or kilograms of dry matter, phosphate, nitrogen, or ammonium are then applied. You can also choose to applicate based on a task card. The task card platform also offers you the opportunity to create a task cards based on the biomass in the field. Ask us about the possibilities!
